Carbon Unbound is proud to announce our partnership with CDR30, a unified global effort of close to 90 organisations working to elevate carbon removal at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

CDR30 aims to deliver the first-ever dedicated CDR Pavilion in the Blue Zone at a UN climate summit, putting carbon removal squarely on the agenda for policymakers, investors, and civil society. Alongside the Pavilion, CDR30 will coordinate high-impact programming, site visits, and live demonstrations of carbon removal technologies, creating an opportunity to accelerate awareness, policy, and deployment.

Upcoming Webinar

To explore CDR30 in more detail, and to share how you can get involved, we have arranged a webinar called Carbon Dioxide Removal at COP30: Reimagining Climate Action on Thursday 18th September 2025. This will be a chance to learn more about the initiative and hear directly from leaders shaping its vision.

Confirmed speakers include:

Moderator:

Oliver Katz, CEO, Unbound Summits

Panellists:

Chris Sherwood, Secretary-General, Negative Emissions Platform

Marlous Tyrrell, Project Lead, CDR30

Chris Neidl, Co-Founder, The OpenAir Collective

Further details to be announced soon. Register for the webinar here.

Why CDR30 Matters

CDR is still poorly understood by business leaders, policymakers and the public, despite being identified by the IPCC as essential to meeting global climate goals. Without policy frameworks and funding to support its rapid growth, the sector risks falling short of what is needed to keep 1.5°C alive.

Chris Sherwood, Secretary-General at the Negative Emissions Platform, the organisation spearheading CDR30, said "Through CDR30, we have the opportunity to secure the first-ever Pavilion dedicated to carbon dioxide removal at a UN climate summit. With leadership from the Negative Emissions Platform, this coalition of more than 85 organisations is working together to show policymakers that carbon removals are essential for keeping net zero within reach."

A dedicated CDR Pavilion at COP30 would provide:

  • Visibility and legitimacy – putting CDR on the main stage of international climate negotiations.
  • Education and advocacy – helping policymakers, NGOs, businesses, and the public understand the science and solutions.
  • Global collaboration – uniting stakeholders from across industries, academia, and civil society.
  • Momentum for deployment – catalysing investment, policy frameworks, and public support to scale solutions.

The CDR30 coalition has already raised $200,000 toward its $500,000 target. With additional backing from visionary sponsors, the Pavilion can be secured and delivered at the scale needed to have maximum impact at COP30.

Carbon Unbound’s Role

Carbon Unbound brings to the partnership our convening power and global reputation as the world’s most senior carbon removal summits, bridging innovators, financiers, corporates, and policymakers. By joining CDR30, we underscore our mission to unite and accelerate the CDR ecosystem.

Oliver Katz, Founder & CEO of Unbound, commented “For too long the world’s largest climate conference hasn’t given CDR the space and attention it deserves. We’re very excited to be supporting CDR30 and Negative Emissions Platform to change that, and are inspired by the work Chris, Marlous and the team are doing to make it a reality. Let’s get to gigaton-scale!”

Supporting Partners

Among the supporting organisations is Isometric, a leading carbon removal registry and measurement platform, which is playing a pivotal role in both initiatives. Isometric is also a long-standing supporter and partner of Carbon Unbound.

Lukas May, Chief Commercial Officer at Isometric, added “Carbon removal was barely on the agenda at COP29, so we came together to change that for COP30. Thanks to a real community effort across the sector, this idea is fast becoming a reality. Removing carbon from the atmosphere is critical to tackling the climate crisis - let’s make sure that message is heard loud and clear in Belém.”
